BCCI set to pay 1.5Crores each for the Fab 4 of Indian cricket: The famous Fab 4 of Indian cricket – Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid, VVS Laxman and Sourav Ganguly – will get a one-time only benefit of rupees 1.5 crores each. The BCCI’s finance committee finalized this decision after Thursday’s meeting.
The BCCI also discussed the proposal to introduce a gradation system for women cricketers. A final decision on the same will be taken in due course. A finance committee source was quoted by TOI saying: “The women cricketers don’t get the money that they deserve. We are planning to increase their remuneration,” A decision to increase the salary of the junior cricketers was also taken during the meeting.
The players’ income has come down due to BCCI’s profits going down in the past two years. A proposal to fix the players’ income was also discussed so that the players don’t suffer if BCCI fails to make enough profits. However, not all members agreed with this proposal and thus they were asked to come up with something concrete, in the next meeting to address this issue.
The BCCI gives grants to all the associations and the finance committee has been asked to look into the spending of the state bodies. The valuation issue of Chennai Super Kings involving Rs. 5 lakh also came up in the meeting. Jyotiraditya Scindia, the chairman of the committee, enquired about the loss that the BCCI would suffer because of it. He was assured that the legal cell of the BCCI was on top of the matter.
It was also disclosed at the meeting on Thursday that, the Board spent a staggering Rs 56 crores on legal matters in the last two years. It is understood that due to the legal expenses moving northwards in the past couple of years, the finance committee decided that infrastructure subsidy of Rs 50 crores granted to the affiliated state associations will not be increased to Rs 75 crores as per the earlier proposals.
