BCCI settle payment with Rahul Dravid for coaching

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has settled its fee with Rahul Dravid for his coaching services rendered to the U19 and India A cricket teams. The former batsman, fondly known as ‘The Wall’ received a payment approximately estimated to be around 1.3 crores. The payment was classified as the ‘Balance 50% professional fees for Coach of Indian U19 and Indian A team’. This was revealed in the disclosure of payments above Rs. 25 Lakh made by the BCCI every month.

April will be the final payment made to Dravid for the services rendered by the latter for coaching. Dravid was inducted in the ICC’s Cricket Committee on Friday. The first half of the fee was paid in March.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has also settled the payments for some of the commentators. Sunil Gavaskar, who the BCCI had decided to cut ties with earlier, had his payment settled after receiving a fee of approximately 89 Lakhs. Former leg-spinner now turned commentator Laxman Sivaramakrishnan was paid Rs 26.12 lakh for the same duration.

The board also cleared the payments of three IPL franchises. Knight Riders Sports and Royal Challengers Sports Pvt Ltd, the holding companies of the Kolkata Knight Riders and the Royal Challengers Bangalore were beneficiaries of the BCCI payouts in the month of April Classified under the “Advance for 1st Installment – NCR for IPL Season 2016”, the two franchise teams received 20.9 Crore apiece. Sun TV Network, the holding company for the Sunrisers Hyderabad also received an identical amount.

Besides, the BCCI also cleared the dues to various state associations for conducting domestic tournaments, camps, and infrastructure subsidy. The Kerala and Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association received payouts of approximately Rs. 1.62 crore and Rs 8.67 crore respectively. The Cricket Associations of Vidarbha, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Karnataka, Baroda, and Odisha have been given Rs 37.12 lakh each as the advance for conducting ZCA U-19 Boys Camps in Nagpur, Mohali, Dharamsala, Hubli, Baroda and Bhubaneswar.

Apart from this, the BCCI also cleared the Income Tax for the financial year.
