The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has not given its staff Diwali bonuses for this year. However, this year around, the Board has not given its employees an increment bonus as well, something that has come as a shock for the folks employed by the premier Indian cricket board. For the first time ever, the BCCI did not announce a bonus for its staff. And more significantly, it has not even sanctioned the annual increments.
However, for the general onlooker, this would seem as though the Lodha Panel recommendations are once against weighing in. Earlier, this particular committee had frozen the bank accounts of the board not allowing them to pay the respective state associations.
A staff member of the BCCI went on to state that the increments, as well as the bonuses, have not been awarded to the employees and the staff.
“The bonuses are generally announced around this time of the year. Besides, the increments have also not been awarded,” said a staff member, not willing to be quoted.

“We made the salary correction last year, so where is the question of bonus for those who have had salary hike,” said a member of the board.
“They will get it soon. Once the auditor is appointed, we will know the threshold limit of expenses. Then we will look into that,” said a BCCI office-bearer.
However, the staff thinks differently. “The Supreme Court has not restricted the BCCI to spend money on day-to-day purposes. It has only stopped the payment for the state associations. The increments could add up to some lakhs,” said a source in the BCCI office.
