Bollywood actor and critic Kamaal Rashid Khan aka KRK has launched a scathing attack towards BCCI after the Indian cricket board dropped the former India skipper MS Dhoni from the central contract list. The BCCI announced the 27-player list on Thursday and MS Dhoni was the biggest name absent from it. The exclusion, however, wasn’t very surprising.
With the veteran wicketkeeper-batsman staying away from any form of cricket for the last six months, he was very much unlikely to get the contract which covers the period between October 2019 to September 2020. Dhoni has not played any match for India or any other competitive match since the World Cup ended in July.
“The national selectors only put up the proposal for the central contract list and as far as MSD was concerned, there was no clarity on whether he would like to continue or not,” an official in the know of things was quoted as saying by the Sportstar.
KRK on Dhoni
With no clarity over his future, the contract snub has once again seen the retirement talks dominating the social media platform. As soon as the BCCI announced the lists, #ThankYouDhoni started trending on Twitter as many believe that it is the end of the road for the World Cup-winning captain. Well, KRK is also one of them who believes that Dhoni has retired from the game.
Thus he too took to Twitter to speak about it. But unlike others who gave tribute to Dhoni, the controversial Bollywood figure lashed out at BCCI and also took a dig at the former India captain. He slammed the cricket board for not giving a farewell to yet another cricketer before stating that Dhoni also followed the path of former players who did not bid farewell to the game until being forced to do so, tweeting:
“Today #BCCI threw out @msdhoni like many other players in the past. I strongly believed that #MSDhoni will retire with dignity and respect unlike all other players. But he followed other players only “Ki Jab Tak Dhakke Markar Nahi Nikaloge, Tab Tak Nahi Nikloonga”! #VerySad!”
