Despite earning a reputation of being an emerging all-rounder, Hardik Pandya has found himself in the news for wrong reasons on account of his off-field controversies. Pandya, along with KL Rahul has been blasted in the social media for their derogatory comments on females in the popular talk show Koffee with Karan, hosted by Karan Johar.
The BCCI has vowed to take this case seriously by setting up a six-member panel to arrive at the verdict. While KL Rahul may break free with a warning, it is the younger Pandya who is likely to face suspension for two matches.
Earlier the Indian skipper Virat Kohli dissected himself from the matter by calling it as a personal opinion of individuals. The Committee of Administrators member Diana Edulji, however, called for a strict action to be taken by suspending the duo until a final decision is announced.
Edulji recommends provisional suspension
Diana Edulji stated that it is important to address the matter of misconduct publicly with urgency and hence she has advised a provisional suspension to be imposed on the pair until the full and final resolution is proclaimed.
“Based on the legal opinion and till the time the final procedure is laid down to address the issue, will recommend that a communication is sent to the concerned players and the team immediately,” Edulji was quoted as saying by Times Now.
“It is imperative that the players be put under suspension till a further course of action is decided in this case of misconduct as was done in the case of CEO when he was sent in the sexual harassment matter.” she further added.
The players were also part of the training sessions that was held ahead of the first ODI against Australia at the Sydney Cricket Ground. Whether or not they are eligible to be part of the playing team is still under the cloud. The 12-man squad was set to be announced, however, it has been put to rest considering the matters regarding the duo’s participation remains undecided.
