Team India is having a gala time out there on the island, by thrashing Sri Lanka in the field and enjoying the picturesque background off the field. Skipper Virat Kohli and his men have already confirmed their names as ‘winners’ of the three Test match series by winning the first two. As the popular phrase goes, they not only won the first couple of Tests but won it in style.

In style here means by simply outclassing their opponents. The Sri Lankan team are already appearing as plague-stricken after the retirement of two pillars of Lankan cricket, namely Kumar Sangakkara and Mahela Jayawardene. The hopes of a miraculous renaissance are further dented by the ruthless deputies of Kohli who are not ready to spare an inch to their needy opponents.

The end result is obvious- the hosts are failing to offer resilience in every outing and hence the matches are turning out to be a one-sided affair, which is a treat to the eyes of any Indian cricket enthusiast but not too entertaining from a neutral’s perspective. Sri Lankan board is hell bent on solving the team selection conundrum and hence have started trying out different permutations and combinations for the upcoming ODI and T20I series. They have called up veteran all-rounder Thisara Perera for the ODIs, to provide the faded leaf with a tinge of green experience.

Team will be announced on Sunday

While Lankan officials are trying their best to find the perfect mix, BCCI will announce the team on Sunday. Indian journalist Debasish Sen, who is currently in Sri Lanka, confirmed the news on Twitter. “Just In: @BCCI will name the ODI & T20 squad against @OfficialSLC on Sunday. #SLvND.” With the problem of plenty, it will be interesting to see who are the cricketers chosen by the board to do the job in the limited overs format.
