Virat Kohli remains the champion of the Indian Cricket Team, leading them with his insatiable hunger for runs in every format of the game. Despite suffering a recent injury, Kohli is up and running, and has been racking up runs at an unprecedented level. He has breezed past milestones and has toppled the records as though it were just another day at the office.

The aggressive Kohli is always a tough competitor, and on the cricket field, he rules with an iron fist. However, when shifting the scene to another sporting arena, VK isn’t necessarily the numero uno. There’s one man who can defeat the otherwise invincible Virat on the tennis court, and that is India’s new edition of the Wall, Cheteshwar Pujara.

The senior statesman from Saurashtra is the musing batsman who treats batting out in the middle like meditation. Pujara showcased his prowess during the long Indian home series of 2016/17. Although he doesn’t bat with the flamboyance and showmanship that Kohli does, he has enough of it to defeat his captain on the tennis court as well as table tennis.

Virat plays too many smashes: Cheteshwar Pujara

“One was table tennis and another one was tennis. So as we all know Virat is very aggressive and even in table tennis and tennis, he plays too many smashes. I knew how to win against him. I’ll just roll it back to him. I’ll just keep playing slow balls against him and I make sure that the ball pitches on the other court,” Cheteshwar Pujara said during the latest episode of What The Duck, hosted by well-known comedian Vikram Sathaye.

Upon being asked whether Virat can defeat him in tennis, Pujara gave a shake of the head straightaway. “No he can’t. But when it comes to FIFA, he has improved a lot and its a competitive game, so we are even when it comes to FIFA. In tennis, I have been beating him,” he said, much to the amusement of Sathaye.
