The last year and a half haven’t been memorable for Kuldeep Yadav by any means. The talented wrist spinner hasn’t performed to his potential in this period and subsequently lost his place in the national team. He even couldn’t remain a regular member of his Indian Premier League (IPL) side Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). With the likes of Varun Chakravarthy and Sunil Narine in ranks, Kuldeep didn’t play a single in IPL 2021.

As if this wasn’t unfortunate enough, Kuldeep will be out of action for at least six to eight weeks as he went underwent a knee surgery recently. After coming across the news, many fans and cricket personalities sent ‘speedy recovery’ messages to the left-arm wrist spinner. Former Indian batter Suresh Raina also wished Kuldeep and backed him to make a strong comeback.

Meanwhile, Kuldeep, on Wednesday (September 29), took to Twitter and shared a picture of himself in the hospital bed. The 26-year-old mentioned his surgery was successful alongside thanking fans for their wishes.

“Surgery was a success and the road to recovery has just begun. Thank you so much to everyone for your amazing support. The focus is now to complete my rehab well and be back on the pitch doing what I love as soon as possible,” he wrote in the caption.

Just focus on a good rehab: Suresh Raina to Kuldeep Yadav

After Raina came across the post, he recalled times when he was injured. “Wish you a speedy recovery brother @imkuldeep18. Been there twice! Just focus on a good rehab & you will bounce back very soon. All the best,” he wrote.

A veteran of 172 international wickets, Kuldeep, a couple of years ago, was a vital cog of the national team across formats. However, the spinner lost his sheen out of nowhere and his performances dipped down. With several senior players being unavailable, the youngster was a part of India’s tour of Sri Lanka earlier this year. He couldn’t perform extraordinarily in the island nation and subsequently wasn’t picked in India’s squad for the T20 World Cup 2021.

Nevertheless,  Kuldeep still has a long way to go and he must be confident of making a strong comeback. As far as Raina is concerned, the former Indian international is currently plying his trade for Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2021.
