The upcoming T20 WC is knocking on the doors. With the excitement of a T20 WC being so special, this is nothing short of a festival for the fans. Now, with the top teams competing for glory, only time will tell which team manages to hold on to its ground.

The 2019 World Cup was the last limited-overs men’s international tournament. There were many close-competed matches during that time. Now, everyone is hoping for a similar show, if not more spectacular than the 2019 World Cup.

There were many shocking decisions taken up by the selection committees of the cricketing boards. Regular players were excluded and old-timers were called back. With so many things going on in this circuit, we bring to you the best

XI of  players who missed out on the T20 WC but showed up in 2019 WC

1. Shikhar Dhawan

An ICC tournament without the presence of Shikhar Dhawan looks a bit awkward. Well, the dashing left-hander has always contributed heavily to India during the mega tournaments. But, this time, Dhawan has missed the bus, and somehow, it is justified.

Well, one might argue that he has been a consistent run-scorer in the last few years in IPL. But his stats do show that he is somehow a stat padder. Dhawan has been scoring at a relatively lower strike rate of 126.38 in T20Is. Adding on, he looked off-color against Sri Lanka.

Apart from that, he has an IPL strike rate of 127, which is also quite low for an opener. With KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma having a healthy strike rate in T20IS, there is no need for another opener. If required, Virat Kohli had stated that he could open the innings.

 2. Colin Munro

After New Zealand had declared their World Cup squad, Colin Munro stated that he might have played his last match for the Kiwis. Being such a phenomenal striker of the ball, Munro has been unlucky. During the backend of the last decade, he was one of the most highly rated T20I batsmen.

But, unfortunately, his form dipped. Later on, even though his strike rate remained at the high 150s, inconsistency proved to be the decisive factor in the selection process. Munro has played 65 T20Is and has scored with a healthy career average of 31.25.

Apart from that, Munro can bowl some medium pace too. He has picked 4 wickets in T20Is so far. To add more value, he is a terrific fielder as well. Hence, he is more of an asset to this team. His sheer destructive skills with the bat can demolish any bowling attack.

 3. Faf du Plessis

Another big news that shocked the cricketing world was the exclusion of Faf du Plessis from the South African side. The stylish batsman is one of the most consistent batsmen in the game. But, that was not enough for him to find a place in the national team.

The former captain has played 50 T20Is and has scored with an average of 35.53. He even has a century to his name in the shortest format of the game. Apart from that, he has been in decent form with the bat, which means a relatively inexperienced side might miss him.

Faf has also played 97 IPL games so far. With an average of 34.22, he has been a key member of the CSK squad. Apart from that, he is a terrific fielder who can assist the bowlers excellently as well.

 4. Fakhar Zaman

At a crucial position comes Pakistan’s Fakhar Zaman. The stylish left-handed batsman is a clean striker of the ball. Even though he is not consistent with the bat in T20Is, he can win matches for fun on his day. This unpredictability somehow makes him a dangerous batsman.

Zaman has played 53 T20Is so far. With an average of 21.72, he has scored with a strike rate of 136.32. Now, as the strike rate is healthy, he is a valuable option for any team. As he has been consistent in ODIs, his T20I stats might improve with time.

There might be a situation in which Pakistan will miss his services during the 2021 T20 WC. His sheer attacking skills are a valuable asset in a format like T20. Adding on, he is a decent fielder and could bowl in an over if a premier bowler is having an off day.

 5. Ben Stokes

The Man-of-the-match in the final of the last World Cup will be missing the upcoming T20 World Cup. Well, Ben Stokes did a commendable job by opting for mental well-being. And he has shown that even the best in the business might need rest sometimes.

Stokes has played 34 T20Is so far. With a healthy strike rate of 136.84, he has been the backbone of English cricket for quite some time now. Stokes has even scored a couple of IPL centuries for the Rajasthan-based franchise.

Talking about his bowling, he has a decent economy rate of 8.78 in T20Is. In the IPL, he has an economy rate of 8.56. As he bowls at the death, his figures are justified. Adding on, his fielding skills make him one of the most valuable cricketers in the world right now.

 6. MS Dhoni (wicket-keeper, captain)

MS Dhoni has been a big name in the Indian cricket circuit for over a decade. Being the only captain to win every limited-overs trophy, Dhoni will play the role of the mentor for Team India in the T20 WC. With only a few years left in his career, he will be looking for more IPL trophies. But, in this team, he is the captain and the guardian of the wickets.

Dhoni has played 98 T20IS so far. With 1617 runs under his belt, he has been a decent batsman in the middle order. He has an average of 37.6, which justifies his role as the finisher. Adding on, in the IPL, he has an average of 39.63 and a strike rate of 135.79.

Apart from his stats, his analytical mind is a great asset too. He can change the game with the simplest of tactics. Talking about his keeping, he is still the finest in the game. Hence, he plays the role of the wicketkeeper-batsman on this side.

 7. Carlos Brathwaite

Carlos Brathwaite was the hero of the 2016 T20 World Cup final. He smashed four consecutive sixes off Stokes to help the Windies to lift the trophy. But, unfortunately, this time, he was not picked by the management.

Carlos’s numbers do not speak much. He has a poor average of 14.76 in T20Is. Adding on, his poor strike rate of 113.14 does not help much in his favor. He even has a poor average in the IPL as well, the stat being 13.92.

Brathwaite has picked 31 wickets in 41 T20Is so far. Adding on, he has picked 13 wickets in 16 IPL games as well. But, his inconsistency has meant that Windies will travel to the UAE without Carlos.

 8. Chris Morris

This time, the South Africans have picked up a very young side. They have even excluded a senior member like Chris Morris from the side. And yes, their experiments might go haywire during the upcoming T20 WC.

The main reason being Morris is an excellent contributor with the bat down the order. He has an IPL batting strike rate of 156.06. Adding on, on the international stage, he has a strike rate of 130.39. With clean ball-striking abilities, Morris can decimate any bowling attack.

Talking about his bowling, Morris has picked 94 wickets in 80 games so far. Adding on, his excellent economy rate of 8.02 also makes him a special player. Well, this time, he has been unlucky with the selection. Hopefully, he finds his way back into the national side.

 9. Imran Tahir

The fans will miss Imran Tahir’s iconic celebration. Well, during the early months of 2017, he reached the pinnacle of limited-overs cricket by becoming the highest-ranked bowler in limited-overs cricket. However, within four years, he has found himself out of the team.

But, he has excellent numbers in T20Is. Within 38 games, he has picked 63 wickets with the best bowling figure of 5/23. Adding on, he has an economy rate of 6.73 in T20Is, which is quite excellent. A bowling average of 15.05 showcases his abilities with the ball as well.

Talking about his IPL stat, Tahir has the best bowling figure of 4/12. Even in the toughest league, the IPL, Tahir has a decent economy rate of 7.76. Well, even though is not the quickest in the field, but his skills are enough to trigger a batting collapse.

 10. Yuzvendra Chahal

Along with Imran Tahir, we have Yuzvendra Chahal. The clever leggie can outfox the batsman with ease. He is not quicker in the air, but his variations can be lethal for any batsman. It is still a mystery why he was not included in the main squad for the T20 WC.

But, Chahal has been RCB’s most successful bowler. He has the best bowling figure of 4/25 in the IPL. Adding on, a decent economy rate of 7.62 makes him Kohli’s go-to man in crucial times.

Talking about his international record, he has the best bowling figure of 6/25 in T20Is. Adding on, he has an economy rate of 8.23 in the IPL. Chahal is a good fielder as well, which makes him an asset for this lineup.

 11. Lasith Malinga

Bowling yorker is an art, and Malinga is the best in the business. It was almost certain that the 2019 World Cup will be his last one. But still, during the twilight of his career, Malinga managed to bowl those iconic Yorkers.

In 83 T20Is, he has picked 107 wickets with the best bowling figure of 5/6. Adding on, he had a decent economy rate of 7.42 in T20Is. During a match against New Zealand, he took 4 wickets in 4 balls to decimate the top-order batting.

For the Mumbai Indians, Malinga has played 122 IPL games and has picked 170 wickets. An economy rate of 7.14 showcases how effective he was in his IPL career/. Adding on, the best bowling figure of 5/13 is another feather to his cap.
