Jason Roy was one of the finds of the tournament. His role as England’s aggressor at the top of the order produced 183 runs at a strike-rate of 148.78. His foot-down acceleration from the outset was not only crucial in the semi-final but also in the win over South Africa in the group stage. His 43 off just 16 balls gave his team a flying start against the Proteas in England’s successful chase of 230 runs. He spanked 78 off 44 balls in the semi-final against the Kiwis to take his team to the summit clash.
