India and West Indies are in Kerala to face-off in the second T20I of the three-match series. This happens to be the home ground of Sanju Samson who is loved immensely by the crowd. After not getting an opportunity in the series opener, the fans had hoped for India to include him at least in front of the home crowd. However, much to their despair, the Men in Blue decided to go in with an unchanged in the second T20I.

Sanju Samson has been the constant talking point in the last month or so. After sizzling with the bat in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, he was picked in the team for the Bangladesh series. However, he was never a preferred choice in the XI and with India losing the first match, the hosts didn’t have the luxury to test the bench. Samson carried the drinks for the whole series and the fans were furious over the same as well.

However, things escalated to a new level when the talented wicketkeeper-batsman was dropped from the team for the West Indies series with Kohli returning. But Shikhar Dhawan’s injury paved the way for Sanju Samson to make a comeback and the fans once again hoped for him to don the India jersey.

The crowd gives a roaring welcome to Sanju Samson in Thiruvananthapuram

There was a buzz around Sanju Samson getting a chance ahead of the game even as the crowd welcomed him with a roar before the match. Also, when the BCCI posted the video of the same on its official Instagram handle, it looked like Samson was finally getting his opportunity. But all the hopes were dashed when Virat Kohli cleared at the toss that they were fielding the same XI.

India are leading by 1-0 in the three-match series and they would love to seal the series here and then give a chance to their fringe players. Hopefully, Samson gets a chance in the last match even as Twitter is livid with their favourite players not getting an opportunity. As far as the match is concerned, West Indies won the toss and opted to bowl and will be hoping to restrict India to a low total.
