Among the few news elements head coach Anil Kumble has implemented in the team is the fine for late-comers. To instill punctuality and discipline in the team Kumble has put a $50 fine on those who report late. Swing bowler, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who seems to be the most punctual and sincere of them all has been handed over the responsibility of chairing the committee responsible for enforcing it.

The head coach has formed a panel of three which also has opener Shikhar Dhawan and batsman Cheteshwar Pujara to assist Bhuvneshwar. Confirming the same Bhuvneshwar said, “We have a Fine Committee now. It relates to punctuality and other rules which have been framed (for the players). If players don’t arrive on time and if there is any other related issues (indiscipline), they have to pay fines. I am the chairman, (Cheteshwar) Pujara will collect the fines and Shikhar (Dhawan) will take the appeals of those who feel they’ve been fined wrongly.”

“We’ve had a trial run so far, but the committee’s work actually started yesterday. No one has been fined yet. It’s difficult to say who will give the most fines, it depends on punctuality and a lot of other things.“ He added.

The amount of fine collected will be used for charity. “Whatever we collect, it will go to charity. We not yet decided which charity and so on, but that will be decided soon.”

Coach Kumble has made sure the bowlers also understand their responsibility of contributing the runs to the teams cause. A buddy programme has also been introduced which pairs a batsman and a bowler in order to develop all round abilities in all the players.

Team India after two warm-up games will start the series with the 1st Test from July 21 in Antigua.
