Indian pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar had a forgettable first outing Down Under while playing in first ODI at the SCG which the hosts won by 34 runs. The 28-year-old ended on the expensive side conceding 66 runs in his quota of 10 overs while picking up two wickets. Indian pace attack’s spearhead from Meerut, in the absence of  Jasprit Bumrah, is putting in the hard yards during the training session ahead of the second ODI against Australia in Adelaide.

The right-handed bowler who was warming the bench in all the four matches of the four-match Test series made a return to the playing XI in first ODI. The Indian fast bowler accounted for the wickets of Aussie captain Aaron Finch and middle-order batsman Peter Handscomb in the first ODI which the visitors lost by a fair margin. In absence of Bumrah, it is largely expected from Bhuvi to provide India with the initial breakthroughs with the new ball.

Bhuvi tries his heart out

The Uttar Pradesh born pacer aced his role to perfection by providing the early wicket of dangerous batsman Finch and hence ending his first spell on a high note. However, the pacer was not able to capitalise as he failed to carry his form in the death overs which resulted in a big total from the home side.

The bowler believes that he was not able to deliver yorkers in the death overs which is the heart and soul of death bowling and hence ended up conceding too many runs. However, it seems like Bhuvi has learned from the mistakes he committed in first ODI and found a perfect solution to it.

In Team India’s latest training session, the 28-year old Bhuvi was seen practising some ‘Yorkers’, running in with all his might. He had the shoes in front of the stumps while attempting those deliveries. Yorkers are absolutely essential when it comes to limited-overs cricket and they have the ability to bamboozle the best of the batsmen.
