Big Bash League (BBL) star, Andrew Tye has been signed by county side, Gloucestershire. An official announcement regarding the signing was published on the team’s official site, welcoming the 31-year old back to the side. Tye has been associated with Gloucestershire since the year 2017.

Tye has had his share of T20 Cricket as he has played in high octane T20 leagues such as the Big Bash League (BBL) and the Indian Premier League (IPL). Back in 2016, he played sensationally for the Gloucestershire side, picking up 18 wickets in the season. The T20 Blast campaign for which he’s been signed on by the county side kicks off on July 6, 2018 (Friday).

Elated to come back to Gloucestershire

According to Gloucestershire’s official page, an elated Andrew Tye said, I’m delighted to sign with Gloucestershire for the T20 Blast. I enjoyed my time at The Brightside Ground and Cheltenham Festival in 2016 and I’m looking forward to playing in front of the Gloucestershire crowds again. With us reaching the quarterfinals in 2016, I want to go one step further this summer and make it to Finals Day.”

Head Coach for the county side, Richard Dawson also expressed his joy at having Tye back in the side. “It’s great to have AJ back with us for this year’s T20 competition. It was unfortunate he could not join us last year due to injury but since coming back from his shoulder surgery he has performed exceptionally well, earning a call-up to the Australian ODI squad against England. We are looking forward to him contributing for Gloucestershire this season,” said Dawson.

The right-arm medium-fast bowler has been in top-notch form in the ongoing season for the BBL for his franchise, Perth Scorchers, with 16 wickets to his name already. He’s also featured in the Gujarat Lions side in the IPL during the time period of 2016-17. Tye’s consistent performances has also earned him a call-up to the Australian one-day side in the upcoming games against England.
