Team Pakistan were stung deeply by pacer Josh Hazlewood in the Test series down under. The Aussie quickie bagged 15 wickets in the 3 Tests, the most by any bowler in the series. No wonder why former Pakistan skipper Waqar Younis was left impressed with Josh Hazlewood. On the final day of the third Test, it was Hazlewood’s twin strike early in the day that led to the cavalcade of dismissals for the Pakistani batsmen.

Such immaculate has been his line and lengths, that there have been comparisons between him and former legend Glenn McGrath. As per quotes in news.com.au, Waqar heaped praise on Hazlewood. He said, ” It is amazing the way things have gone for this youngster, he is improving day-by-day, bowling extremely well in this innings.”

However, the former Pakistan head coach also mentioned that this is just the beginning for the young fast bowler. He has a long way to go ahead. He mentioned that a bigger challenge lies ahead of Hazlewood when Australia will tour India in the coming days.

Australia are scheduled to play 4 Tests in India in the coming months of February and March. India has not been a happy hunting ground for the visitors in the recent past and hence finding success in the subcontinent will be a tough ask for the pace bowler. Waqar Younis added that the pacer will learn a lot from the tour and by bowling on pitches that do not assist as much as the Australian decks.

“The big test will be going to India for his career. He will probably learn a lot from that Tour, the slow pitches, a lot of reverse swing, different cricket ball. They play with the SG ball and its harder and has a lot bigger seam,” conceded the former cricketer. It will b interesting to see how the Australian team backs up their convincing form against India in the coming series.
