Cricket on a number of occasions presents some bizarre days of play where some unbelievable scenarios come to the fore during the game. On Saturday during a domestic game in Sri Lanka‘s Tier B tournament, a bizarre incident happened. Panadura Sports Club were playing Sri Lanka Air Force Sports Club in a 3-day game in Panadura.

Sri Lanka Air Force Sports Club after winning the toss asked their opponent to bat first. The bowlers didn’t disappoint their skipper as they bundled the opposition for 176 runs. Shohan Rangika sent 5 opposition batsmen to the pavilion. Sri Lanka AFSC skipper responded brilliantly with a 96-run inning as his side scored 309 runs, taking a healthy lead of 133 runs. Danusika Bandara and Shanaka Perera grabbed 3 wickets each for the Panadura Sports Club.

SL AFSC’s second inning was folded up for a mere 36 runs as they lost the game by an innings and 97 runs. 36 run all out is really a rare scorecard. Can there be something stranger than that? Well, surely there can be, actually there was in this game.

The bowling card

Sri Lanka Air Force Sports Club used 3 bowlers who routed through the batting lineup of Panadura Sports Club. They just took 13.3 overs to send all the 10 batsmen back to the pavilion. Milan Rathnayake bowled 7 overs for his fifer while Buddika Sandaruwan bowled 4 overs and picked up 1 wickets.

Sandaruwan didn’t concede a single run in his 4 overs. Rangika who had a five-wicket haul to his name sent another four batters back to the dressing room and he just took 2.3 overs to do that and he too didn’t concede a single run.

Only three bowlers were used and two of them didn’t concede a single run. Thus, only one bowler conceded all the runs their team gave away in the innings. Rathnayake’s 7 overs fetched Panadura Sports Club 36 runs.
