BJP MP Sunny Deol hopes for Suresh Raina’s family getting justice; meets Pathankot SSP

Former Indian cricketer Suresh Raina hasn’t had the greatest of times recently. Ever since he retired from international cricket back in August 15, he has been hogging he headlines. The 33-year-old was set to play in the 2020 Indian Premier League (IPL), but he had to pull out off the tournament. The southpaw has been a crucial member for the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the T20 league.

The veteran returned to India, citing ‘personal reasons’. Thereafter, a number of reports regarding why he backed out did the rounds. There were talks about rifts with the CSK team management as well. Later, the Uttar Pradesh-born opened up and narrated a brutal attack on his family where his uncle was ‘slaughtered to death’.

The left-handed batsman talked about other family members being affected as well. He dropped a couple of tweets, tagging the Punjab Police and their Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh as well. Raina was distraught, to say the least.

“What happened to my family is Punjab was beyond horrible. My uncle was slaughtered to death, my bua & both my cousins had severe injuries. Unfortunately, my cousin also passed away last night after battling for life for days. My bua is still very very critical & is on life support,” his first tweet read.

“Till date we don’t know what exactly had happened that night & who did this. I request @PunjabPoliceInd to look into this matter. We at least deserve to know who did this heinous act to them. Those criminals should not be spared to commit more crimes. @capt_amarinder @CMOPb,” his second tweet read.

Later, the Punjab CM also asked for a probe into the matter. In the meantime, veteran Bollywood actor Sunny Deol, also a BJP MP, met Gulneet Singh Khurana, the Pathankot Senior Superintendent of Police, and discussed the law and order situation.

He took to Twitter and wrote, “Got detailed information about the issue of Pathankot’s law and order and also the attack on the family of the world’s famous player Suresh Raina. Hoping that the family will get justice as soon as possible,” the MP tweeted.
