KL Rahul contributed significantly in India’s 5-0 victory over New Zealand in their own backyard in the recently concluded five-match T20I series. While Rahul not only shone with his batting performances but also with gloves behind the wicket as a wicketkeeper. He was adjudged Man of the Series for scoring 224 runs at an average of 56 and two half-centuries.

The credit for Rahul’s success should also go to his skipper Virat Kohli who has immense faith in talent and ability of his former RCB teammate. They gel along well both on and off the field. A year ago when the going got tough for the Karnataka batsman, it was captain Kohli’s belief and trust on his young opener which helped him regain his form and perform to the best of his capacity.

KL Rahul is currently paying dividends for the faith reposed by his leader. Kohli has been the guiding figure since his entry into international cricket. Recently, the 27-year-old posted a picture of himself and Virat on his official Instagram handle while they were together with the caption – ‘blessed’. Well, Rahul is truly blessed by Virat Kohli’s contribution in his career so far and he doesn’t shy away from crediting his skipper time and again.

Here’s Rahul’s post:

An average series for Kohli

Meanwhile, Virat Kohli didn’t have a great series with the bat. He could only muster 105 runs in the four innings he played before resting himself for the final match. However, the skipper led the team exceptionally well to clinch the series from tight situations in all the matches. Kohli also became the first Indian skipper to whitewash the opposition in a five-match T20I series.

After having beaten the Kiwis in the shortest format of the game, the visitors will look to continue their winning momentum in the 50-over format. The three-match ODI series will begin from February 5 with the series opener to be played at Seddon Park in Hamilton.

The two-match Test series is scheduled to begin on February 21 even as India will also play a three-day warm-up game before the contest gets underway.
