Bob Willis Trophy, the replacement of County Championship for 2020, will kick start on Saturday where the County champions Essex will be in action. The Essex team is part of the South Group and will be hosting Kent in the 4-day fixture starting Saturday. County Ground in Chelmsford will be the venue for this match where Essex won each of the seven matches played during the 2019 County Championship. The Tom Westley-led team would look to continue their winning spree at home after doing well in the 2-day warm-up match also against Kent earlier this week.
Chelmsford is expected to have sunny weather with high temperatures on Saturday but clouds could be seen on Sunday and Tuesday. But the first half of Monday could be troubled due to showers.
The Chelmsford’s County Ground usually provides tracks that are found in the winters of sub-continent. The first 3-4 sessions will be really helpful for the seamers before the batsmen dominate for a good 3-4 sessions. The remainder of the match will be dominated by spin bowlers and the presence of Simon Harmer has made Essex a ruthless team at this venue.
