BPL 2015: Highest partnership for any wicket: Partnership, in a team sport, is an important aspect that goes a long way in ensuring victory for the team. There have been quite a few interesting partnerships registered in the recently concluded Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) 2015.

The highest partnership by way of runs for any wicket has been the unbroken partnership of 140* runs for the first wicket, between Tamim Iqbal and Tilakratne Dilshan, in the Chittagong Vikings vs Sylhet Super Stars match.

The 18th match in the league stage between the two teams was played on 2nd December 2015, at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium, Chittagong.

Vikings won the toss and chose to field. With a great batting effort by the Pakistani Superstar Shahid Afridi (62), while all others failed, Superstars were able to post a total of 139/9 in their allotted 20 overs.

Medium pacer, Shafiul Islam of Vikings was the most successful bowler claiming 2 wickets from his spell of 4 overs, giving away 37 runs.

Facing a target of 140 runs to win, Vikings commenced their innings with their skipper Tamim Iqbal and the vibrant Sri Lankan T20 legend and the ‘Dilscoop’ expert, Tillakaratne Dilshan. Both the batsman went on a rampage from the very first ball and kept on plundering runs at will.

Super Stars skipper, Mushfiqur Rehman, used as many as seven bowlers to put a check on the batsmen, but could not prevent them from running away with the game.

Facing 51 deliveries and being at the crease for 72 minutes, Iqbal scored an unbeaten 67* runs aided by 8 fours at a strike rate of 131.37, while Dilshan spending the same amount of time in the middle, facing 46 deliveries also notched up an unbeaten 67* runs with 6 fours and 3 sixes at 145.65 strike rate.

The duo established an unbroken partnership of 140* runs and achieved the target (with 6 extra runs – made up of 5 byes and 1 wide ball bowled by Sohail Tanvir) in 16.1 overs.

Chittagong Vikings won the match by 10 wickets with 23 deliveries to spare. For his wonderful efforts with the bat, Tilakratne Dilshan was adjudged the player of the Match.
