BPL 2017: List of records in Bangladesh Premier League history

The 5th edition of Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) is set to begin from November 4th which will see the Sylhet Sixers taking the place of Sylhet Super Stars as the 7th team in the league. The league, which started in 2012, was marred by corruption and suspended by the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) for two years before resuming in last 2015. Dhaka franchises are the most successful teams in the league winning two titles as Dhaka Gladiators and the last season as Dhaka Dynamites.

Ahead of the 5th season, we look at all the records achieved in the four editions of this league:

15 – Sylhet Sixers will be the 15th team to take part in BPL while Rangpur Riders are the oldest surviving team in the league.

List of teams in the Bangladesh Premier League:

51 – Mahmudullah and Sabbir Rahman are the only players to feature in over 50 matches in BPL. Both the players have made 51 appearances in this league.

Most matches as a player in BPL:

45 – Mashrafe Mortaza and Mahmudullah have led their teams in 45 matches apiece in BPL which is the most by any player. Mortaza is the most successful captain in this league with 30 wins and three titles.

Most matches as a captain in BPL:

9 – Number of centuries recorded in BPL so far. Chris Gayle alone has hit three centuries in this league.

7 – A total of seven players have picked up a 5-wicket haul in BPL so far with six of them coming at Dhaka.

1172 – Mushfiqur Rahim is the leading run-scorer in the BPL with 1172 runs. Mahmudullah (1088) and Tamim Iqbal (1026) are the only other players with over 1000 runs in the BPL.

Leading run-getters in BPL:

61 – Shakib Al Hasan leads the BPL bowling charts with 61 wickets while Kevon Cooper, with 60 wickets, stands as the only other with 50 BPL wickets.

Leading wicket-takers in BPL:

7 – A total of seven 200+ totals have been recorded in BPL so far with all of them recorded before the league’s suspension.

Highest totals in BPL:

44 – Khulna Titans’ total of 44/10 last year against Rangpur Riders is the lowest in the BPL history. Top ten lowest totals of BPL have all been scored in Dhaka.

Lowest totals in BPL:

197* – The 197-run stand between Lou Vincent and Shahriar Nafees is the highest partnership in BPL so far. The opening pair of Khulna Royal Bengals batted out full 20 overs against Duronto Rajshahi in 2013.
