BPL 2017: Rangpur Riders unveil new team jersey

The 2017 edition of the Bangladesh Premier League is all set to get underway this week. Ahead of the tournament, the Rangpur Riders franchise have unveiled their new team jersey for the season. At a big time event at International Convention City Bashundhara in Dhaka, the new jersey was unveiled by the team owners.

The Rangpur Riders franchise is owned by Bashundhara Group, the largest business conglomerate in Bangladesh. It was in May this year when the team started a fresh journey under the ownership of Bashundhara Group. At the event, the Bashundhara Group vice chairman and Rangpur managing director Safwan Sobhan Tasvir was present.

Also, the head coach of the franchise, Tom Moody, graced the occasion at Dhaka. Mashrafe Mortaza, who will be leading the Rangpur franchise in the tournament this year, was also present along with several other local and overseas players. Mortaza thanked the team owner for the wonderful evening that was organized by the owners for the players.

“I would like to thank Safwan Sobhan for arranging this wonderful event for us. Please pray for us so that we can play positive cricket in the tournament,” quoted Mashrafe Mortaza.

Hoping for improved show

The Rangpur Riders had finished fifth in the 2016 edition of the premier T20 tournament. Mortaza expressed that the current squad is a lot better and hopes for better results this season. Meanwhile, the Rangpur Chairman Mostafa Asad Mohiuddin also oozed optimism at the event and had words of praise for the captain and the coach.

Meanwhile, coach Tom Moody, as per the reports in the Dhaka Tribune, remarked that the team has the potential to lift the trophy. Also, an android game titled “Rangpur Riders Cricket Star” was launched at the event. The tournament kicks off on Saturday (November 4). Riders will play their first game against Rajshahi Kings on the same day in the second match.
