BPL 2017: Two BCB officials arrested for selling old tickets to the crowd

The ongoing season of Bangladesh Premier League invited the controversy when the BCB officials were caught selling old tickets to the crowd. The event as beclouded the biggest cricketing festival in the country and has raised serious concerns over the ticket management for the event. The tournament commenced on November 4 and has already amazed many people with the performances of the local players.

The incident happened on Sunday in Sylhet where the first phase of the competition is being played. Few spectators were restricted by the security officials from entering the Stadium when they found out that the tickets were invalid. The fans were left fuming over the issue and pointed to the officials of Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) who sold them the tickets.

No one would be spared

BCB has assured that the matter would be handled very seriously and no one would be spared. “We have arrested two persons for ticket fraudulence, both of them are working in BCB,” Sylhet Thana Airport OC Mosharraf Hossain said as quoted by bdcrictime. The Chief Security Officer of the board Major Hossain Imam also cleared that they would not take any responsibility of the convicted and informed that they were working on a temporary basis.

“Yes, we have come to know the incident and told the concerned authority to send the convicts into prison. We will not take any responsibility of them,” he said. BCB director Ismail Haider Mollick also assured that the accused persons would not be given a leeway. “No one would be spared if he does any wrong. Yes, we have heard that they are engaged with BCB but this will not change anything for them. They will be under whatever law appropriate for their misdeed. We will definitely not back them up as BCB officials,” he informed the reporters when asked about the matter.
