The points table in the Bangabandhu BPL has become a tad interesting after Rangpur Rangers and Sylhet Thunder garnered their maiden victories on Saturday’s doubleheader in Chattogram. On Monday, Dhaka Platoon and Cumilla Warriors are set to lock horns in the first game at the same venue. Dhaka can be said to have the upper hand since they beat the Warriors earlier by 20 runs.

Both sides had the same fate in their respective last matches, going down to the Chattogram Challengers. They scored in excess of 200 runs during their run-chases, but the opponent had set targets of 239 and 222. The Warriors and Platoon are hanging in the middle of the table with not much room for error. A victory for either team will help their get their grip among the top for teams.

Pitch and Conditions

The pitch at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram has turned out to be an absolute belter. Bowlers haven’t had much to cheer and has had to rely heavily on change of pace. Of late, the team, batting first has started winning. Dhaka have won both their games, batting first and they wouldn’t want to chase. The temperature will be around 24 degrees Celsius with no chances of rain.

The Warriors will be concerned with Abu Hider Rony’s form as the pacer has an economy of 11.36, the most expensive among the regular bowlers. Soumya Sarkar has leaked runs, but has seven wickets in his kitty. Mujeeb Ur Rahman has been their standout bowler with five wickets at 5.20.

The likes of Sunzamul Islam and Al-Amin Hossain have been reasonable. In the batting area, the Warriors have depended heavily on Dawid Malan, who has 191 runs. Dasun Shanaka has been striking at 206.66, scoring 124 runs. Sarkar, Rajapaksha and Sabbir Rahman need to show more consistency.

Perera has struck the ball powerfully lower down the order. Perera is the Platoon’s leading wicket-taker with five scalps. Evans is a class act, but he hasn’t shown his class. The likes of Mashrafe and Afridi need to step up as well. Wahab didn’t play last time and it remains to be seen if he returns or not.
