The seventh season of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) is all set to get underway on Wednesday. The season opener will see Chattogram Challengers and Sylhet Thunder locking horns at the Shere Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka. The second match of the day will be played at the same venue between the Cumilla Warriors and Rangpur Rangers. Bangladesh cricket has hogged the limelight for some weird reasons over the last days.

And the fans will be hoping for some quality cricket to take place in the T20 tournament and most importantly, without any controversy. As far as the match is concerned, the Warriors boast of some of the local and international stars. Soumya Sarkar, Sabbir Rahman and Dawid Malan are some of them and the bowling attack also looks sorted with the presence of Al Amin Hossain and Mujeeb Ur Rahman. However, they will miss Kusal Perera for the first few matches who is on national duty.

Mohammad Nabi has been appointed the captain of Rangpur Rangers and he also has the likes of Mohammad Shahzad, Cameron Delport, Tom Abell among others in the team. The Rangers also have one of the best fast bowlers in the country in Taskin Ahmed and with the bat, Mohammad Naim will also be under the spotlight having impressed in the India series.

There are no chances of rain in Dhaka even as things will start to get cool down in the evening. The temperature will hover around 23-25 Degrees Celsius during the match. As far as the pitch is concerned, it is expected to be a decent one with this being the start of the season. Also, the ball might come on the bat nicely under the lights.

Dawid Malan and Sarkar are likely to open the innings with the latter coming off an exceptional South Asian T20 games. Yasir Ali is a young kid and is a very talented batsman. Sabbir Rahman will look after finishing the innings while Bhanuka Rajapaksa should look to up the ante in the middle overs. Dasun Shanaka is a fierce hitter of the ball and he can also roll his arm over for a couple of overs much like Sarkar.

With the ball, Mujeeb Ur Rahman will lead the way for the Warriors, while Abu Hider Rony and Al Amin Hossain will take the new ball while Sunzamul Islam is also expected to play.

As far as the bowling is concerned, Mustafizur Rahman will lead the attack comprising of Junaid, Taskin and Arafat Sunny which is quite strong. The skipper Nabi more often than not bowls four tight overs and the Rangers look lie a much settled side.
