Bangladesh Premier League has hit the floors with its seventh edition. All the sides taking part in the tournament have been rechristened as the BCB has done away with the franchises this time. After the first three days of high-octane clashes, the tournament continues to deliver thrilling contests as Chattogram Challengers and Rangpur Rangers lock horns in the seventh match of the league.

Chattogram Challengers registered a flying start to their campaign by thrashing Sylhet Thunder by five-wickets in their inaugural match. However, they lost their second match against Khulna Tigers. Challengers will be hoping for a much better season this year as they have finished in the top-four only once in past six seasons.

Lendle Simmons, who scored 26 runs off 23 balls emerged as their top-performer in their previous match. He was assisted by Muktar Ali, who smashed 29 runs off just 14 balls along with picking up a wicket. Challengers also have the likes of Imrul Kayes and Avishka Fernando in their arsenal.

Rangpur Rangers, who suffered a massive 105-run defeat in their opening match of the tournament, will be looking forward to registering their first victory in the league. Chasing a target of 174, Rangers’ batting attack was dismantled by the brilliance of Cumilla Warriors. Mohammad Shahzad and Mohammad Naim were the top-performers, scoring 13 and 17 runs respectively. The Mohammad Nabi-led side will be eager to bounce back on the stage after suffering a humiliating defeat against Warriors.

Pitch and Conditions

With no chances of rain, it is expected to be a perfect day for a cricket match. The temperature is expected to deviate around 28 degrees Celcius throughout the day according to Accuweather. There are no chances of rain whatsoever. The wicket is considered to favour the spinners. Hence, the team winning the toss will be looking forward to batting first on a spin-friendly wicket.

Imrul Kayes will be steering Challengers’ batting line-up. Despite failing in both the Tests against India, the left-hander has the potential to turn the tables in his side’s favour with his experience. He scored a brilliant half-century in Challengers’ opening match of the BPL 2019-20. He will be joined by Lendl Simmons and Chadwick Walton, who will be aiming to propel Challengers to a good start. Their bowling attack will be led by Rubel Hossain and Kesrick Williams.
