The Dhaka phase of the Bangladesh Premier League is progressing forward at a rapid pace. In the first game of the mid-week doubleheader, the Sylhet Sixers will be up against the Chittagong Vikings. Both these sides played one game in the tournament thus far. However, the fortunes of these sides in their respective last game were the opposite.

While the Vikings started off with a win, the Sixers lost against Comilla Victorians in a low-scoring encounter. Both these sides looked to be troubled with their batting and might look to alter their batting order for the optimum results. With some competent players on either side, we are definitely in for a good encounter.

Pitch and Conditions

The day games in the tournament have typically been low-scoring ones till now. In such conditions, it is important for the openers to build a good partnership right at the top even if it doesn’t come at a fair rate. This gives the batsmen down the order an opportunity to go hard towards the end without having to start from the scratch. The humidity levels will be high at the beginning of the match and it is predicted to go down as the evening progresses.

Still, early days in the tournament and thus the Sixers might go with an unchanged side. However, they’ve got to work around a bit with their batting order. They attempted to cushion the inexperienced Bangladeshi players in between some big hitters. This completely backfired as too many balls were consumed in the middle overs and it increased the pressure on the other players towards the end of the innings.

There might be some deliberation about Towhid Hridoy who scored 8 runs in 24 balls in the last game. Nasir Hossain could come in his place. Also, the could be a temptation to bring in Pat Brown or Sohail Tanvir. But, the bowlers did well in the last match and all of them might get another go in the middle.

Mohammad Shahzad and Cameron Delport will be critical for the Vikings in the upcoming game. With some experienced players, the middle-order looks to be stable. Also, the bowling department was exceptional in the tournament opener against the Rangpur Riders. Therefore, there isn’t much to be changed at the moment and the same XI is expected to continue.
