The organisers of the fourth edition of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) 2016-17 have been forced to postpone the tournament to a further date in the calendar after the first four games being washed out. As per the tweet from Mohammad Islam, a leading journalist from Bangladesh, the tournament is being rescheduled from November 8 and all the games, which has been abandoned will be played again.
As per the tweet, “BPL ’s main broadcaster Channel 9, said tournament to “restart” on Nov 8 with all abandoned matches to be replayed later.” It’s a great news for the fans as they will be able to witness all the action after rains played the spoilsport and deprived them some intense cricketing actions. It’s an interesting move as all the even teams’ schedule will be rearranged.
The first four games of the season was called off without a single delivery being bowled. The first game between Comilla Victorians and Rajshahi Kings was called off due to rain just after the toss on November 4. The second game between Rangpur Riders and Khulna Titans on the same day was also interrupted due to rain as even this game was called off without a delivery being bowled.
The third game on Saturday between Barisal Bulls and Chittagong Vikings has also been abandoned along with the fourth match between Comilla Victorians and Dhaka Dynamites. With no cricket being played for over two days and rains being expected for the next few days, the tournament has been rescheduled from November 8. It will be a great exhibition of talent for the young talents in this tournament.
