Brad Hodge was a big part of the Adelaide Strikers season for the most part of the season. Sure, they did not make it as far into the tournament as they would have liked, but the fact of the matter was that they put up a splendid performance. However, at 42, Hodge is nearing the end of his playing career, and with the Strikers moving towards a whole new horizon in the BBL, it was clear that Hodge was surplus to their requirements.

Hodge revealed to the Australian media on the radio the manner in which he had been sacked by the Adelaide Strikers. In fact, it was in the dressing rooms that Hodge was sacked after the end of the Sydney Thunder game, something that was quite disappointing given the fact that the Strikers won that match with Hodge enjoying a decent innings as well.

“I got sacked from Adelaide at 11.38 in the dressing rooms (at) Sydney Thunder after we won that game, which was disappointing,” Hodge told EON Sports Radio.

“They told me, ‘Sorry, we’re going in a new direction and your services are no longer required’. Which was upsetting at the time because I felt like I’d really contributed a lot to Adelaide Strikers over the last couple of years and their success has been a part of that.

However, Hodge decided to take it on the chin and move on from the ordeal. He has played in a plethora of T20 tournaments and he would be looking to contribute with the bat.

“But that’s ok, that’s life, you move on. I think it’ll give me a really good opportunity to make an impact at another (club). I love playing the Big Bash, it’s always good fun,” he said. “I came into this season with an open mind. If I couldn’t contribute then that’d be enough but I certainly found that I could contributed well, probably better than I expected.

He went on to quash any retirement calls and stated that he would be looking to play more cricket the following year. “In that sense, I’m looking to play on next year.”
