Back in 2014, Rohit Sharma smashed the highest individual ODI score (264) against Sri Lanka at the Eden Gardens. After more than six years, no other batsman has been able to get even close to the Nagpur-born’s ginormous numbers. Apart from the knock in Kolkata, the 33-year-old has two more double tons. In fact, he is the only batter with multiple 200 plus scores in ODI cricket.

In 2013, he became the third Indian to get an ODI double century after Sachin Tendulkar and Virender Sehwag. The veteran churned out 209 versus Australia at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore. However, Brett Lee, one of the fastest bowlers of his generation, wants Rohit to spare the Aussies and rather pick any other teams for the carnage.

Rohit Sharma has got a lot of cricket left in him

“He’ll score a lot of double hundreds hopefully. But not many more against Australia, please… Any other country, Pakistan, West Indies perfect but not against Australia,” Lee was quoted as saying on Star Sports’ Show Cricket Connected.

Rohit has played alongside Lee during India’s tri-series against Australia back in February 2008. In that series, he got a score of 66 versus the Aussies at the Sydney Cricket Ground. Lee, the former speedster, said that he was impressed by the sound generated by Rohit’s bat.

“He’s got plenty of years, a lot of cricket left in him. The first impression I got of Rohit Sharma when he came on to the scene was that he was flamboyant. He was very aggressive the way he used to bat but it was the sound of the bat, it’s the first thing that I could think of when I watched him bat.

“You know when people make that sound when they hit the ball from the centre of the bat, it’s a different sound,” he added.

Rohit currently has 9,115 and 2,773 runs in ODIs and T20Is respectively to go with 33 centuries and 64 half-centuries. He also has four T20I tons to his name. Even in Test cricket, Rohit has started to find his feet. Last year, against South Africa, he notched a double ton while opening the batting for the first time in the longest format.
