Lucky cricket fans at the Chatswood Oval had the opportunity to witness ex-Test speedster Bret Lee in action when the legendary bowler made a cameo appearance for the NSW Premier Cricket side Mosman last weekend. Lee, who turned 40 years old last month, proved that class remains forever and he still has the golden touch in him as the opposition side Gordon faced turbulent time facing the fast bowler.

The tearaway quick made an immediate impact in his first match on Australian soil since he retired from top-flight cricket. With a new Kookaburra ball in hand, he claimed Gordon opener Tym Crawford caught behind with the first ball of the match to reduce them to 1-0. The hosts were soon reduced to 4-10 with Lee snaring another breakthrough almost immediately to finish with figures of 3-23 from his four overs.

Gordon, however, recovered from the initial setbacks and posted 149 for the Mosman to chase. Mosman also did not have the best of the time batting and was reduced to 48/4 before eventually achieving the target in the final over.

Lee retired from all forms of cricket in January 2015 following a final KFC Big Bash League campaign with the Sydney Sixers. In a professional career spanning nearly one and a half decades, Lee finished with 310 wickets and 380 wickets respectively from the 76 Tests and 221 ODIs he played after making his debut in 1999 against India at Melbourne.

Since retiring, he is now nurturing the actor & singer in him and also recently starred in Australian-Indian flick ‘Unindian’ which did a decent business at the Box Office despite a bit of controversy surrounding the movie.
