'Can't ignore him anymore' - Twitterati get ecstatic as Ruturaj Gaikwad smashes fourth century in ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy

Sensational young batter Ruturaj Gaikwad is leaving no stone unturned to make his case strong for Team India. After having a brilliant IPL 2021 season, he carried the momentum in the Vijay Hazare Trophy as well and has smashed his fourth ton in the tournament so far. It has to be noted that this Gaikwad’s fourth century in his last five innings in the tournament.

While flaunting his class against Chandigarh, he smashed 100 off 95 balls with the help of seven fours and two sixes. It is quite clear that the man is leading from the front and will be producing another headache for selectors in the future while they already deal with the problem of plenty.

In his last three centuries, he scored 136, 154*, 124 and with his latest feat, he has become the first player of the season to amass massive 500 runs under his belt. With this, Gaikwad has also joined another elite club which has Virat Kohli, Devdutt Padikkal, and Prithvi Shaw in it. They all smashed four centuries in a single VHT season and it looks no wonder that Gaikwad might surpass this record.

Talking about the 24-year-old, 2021 has been a year to remember for him as he accomplished a plethora of milestones. He won the Orange Cap in IPL 2021 and played a crucial part in leading CSK to the fourth title.  He gave CSK a fine start by firing at the top alongside veteran Faf du Plessis.

Gaikwad also made his international debut this year while the second-string Indian team was on their tour to Sri Lanka. The side was led by Shikhar Dhawan where he got to play two T20Is.

With his red-hot form in the current Vijay Hazare tournament, it is quite clear that Gaikwad will be favourite for selectors to join Team India in their upcoming limited-overs assignments. His scintillating form will be of great help for Maharashtra in this tournament.
