Indian left-arm pacer Barinder Sran made his international debut against Australia at the start of this year. Though he wasn’t a part of the squad for the Asia Cup T20 and the World T20 he had a good IPL season, being a part of the champion side of the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH).

After the injury to Ashish Nehra, he did justice as a replacement of the experienced campaigner. “The IPL was great for me and my team. After Ashish Nehra got injured, the responsibility was on me to give critical breakthroughs to the team,” he told Hindustan Times.

Sran accounted for the big wicket of the run machine Virat Kohli in the final of the Indian Premier League (IPL), which earned praises from his skipper David Warner. “I will never forget how our captain David Warner ran up to me when I had bowled Virat Kohli in the final. He said, ‘mate you have won us the Cup’.”

SRH was known for its bowling line-up this season. With Bhuvneshwar Kumar, the latest bowling sensation Mustafizur Rahman, Ashish Nehra and Sran forming a formidable combination.

“As I was coming off a shoulder injury, I was a bit worried. But after a couple of games, I settled in. The management (which paid Rs 1.2 crore for him) said I had stepped up after Nehra pulled out due to injury. I am happy I didn’t let them down,” the 23-year-old added.

He has been included in the squad for the tour of Zimbabwe and hopes to make the most of his second chance in international cricket. “I hope, in Zimbabwe, I can bowl just the way I did on my India debut in Australia.”
