'Cash is king' - Brad Hodge responds to a Twitter user regarding England and Australian players' participation in IPL

The Indian Premier League (IPL) is continuing to take place amidst the Coronavirus scare in India. India reported over 300000 cases on 27th April 2021, and the country is going through a grim situation right now.

Also, there is an issue that has hogged the limelight in the cricketing world. Due to the Covid-19 scare, the England and Australian teams had earlier not played against South Africa. But, they are now plying their trade in the 2021 edition of the IPL. And, a user by the name of Ian Higgins pointed out the same on Twitter on 27th April 2021.

Higgins stated in his tweet that England and Australia had pulled out of the tour to South Africa citing the Covid-19 pandemic. But then, in spite of India recording 330000 cases, the players are continuing to feature in the IPL. Higgins ended his tweet by stating that he is looking forward to the clash between the Delhi Capitals and the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) sides.

Brad Hodge responds to Ian Higgins

Interestingly, Ian Higgins’ tweet has received a response from former Australian cricketer Brad Hodge. Hodge replied to Higgins’ tweet and stated that Cash is the king.

Interestingly, Brad Hodge has featured in as many as 66 matches in the IPL. The 46-year-old featured in the IPL from 2008 to 2014 and scored 1400 runs in his IPL career. He experienced his most fruitful season in the 2009 edition of the IPL, where he scored 365 runs at an average of 40.56. Hodge also managed to score 3 half-centuries during the 2nd edition of the IPL.

The 14th edition of the IPL commenced on 9th April 2021 and is now into its 3rd week. The Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) side is currently occupying the top place in the points table after mustering 5 wins from 6 matches. The summit clash of the 14th edition of the IPL will take place on 30th May 2021.

A number of players, including the likes of Ravichandran Ashwin, Kane Richardson, and Adam Zampa have already pulled out of the tournament midway.
