On Sunday, the crowd at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad got to witness a cracking final. A final which had emotions, rage, fury, happiness, joys and sorrows. A final which was a gut-wrenching, adrenaline-rushing one. A final like a final of the tenth edition of the Indian Premier League. Mumbai Indians defeated their Maharashtrian counterpart Rising Pune Supergiant in a narrowly contested battle.

Captain of the Mumbai Indians, Rohit Sharma won the toss and decided to bat first. But his decision proved costly as Mumbai managed to score just 129 runs. Jaydev Unadkat and Washington Sundar bowled exceptionally well for the Rising Pune Supergiant. Except for Krunal Pandya, no one could offer resistance from Mumbai’s batting line-up.

Coming out to bat, Pune lost Rahul Tripathi early.  But Ajinkya Rahane proved his credentials and with a steady partnership with skipper Steve Smith, Pune were cruising towards victory. They needed 7 runs from the last 5 balls. This is when former Australian pacer Mitchell Johnson pulled things back and Pune fell short by just one run. It was a historic final as the game went down the wire right to the last ball.

The fans erupted their emotions on the social media after the superb encounter. Many cricketers and celebrities have expressed their feelings on the micro-blogging site Twitter. English wicketkeeper-batsman and Mumbai Indians’ star opener Jos Buttler even recorded a video dancing naked with joy.

Social media websites are flooded with comments from the exciting game of cricket as everyone is expressing their joys and sorrows. The Twitterati did not miss a single thing on social media, from praising Mitchell Johnson for his extraordinary last over to bashing Pune’s batting for not being able to chase down a total of 130 in a mega-event like IPL final.
