The third ODI between India and Australia is currently in progress at the Chinnaswamy stadium in Bengaluru. The visitors won the toss and opted to bat only to find themselves in a spot of bother within the first 10 overs of their innings. While Mohammed Shami dismissed David Warner, his opening partner and skipper Aaron Finch was involved in a hilarious mix-up with Steve Smith only to get run-out in a bizarre fashion.

The incident took place in the ninth over of the innings when Shami was bowling. Smith tapped the good length delivery gently towards backward point and straight away called no. But with Finch continuing to run, even he ran and after soon realising that he won’t be able to make it, Smith dived back in his crease. Ravindra Jadeja tried to dismiss him with a direct hit but he was in.

However, the mess was at the other end. With Steve Smith going back to the striker’s end, Finch was clearly sold down the river and by the time, his partner was back in the crease, the Aussie captain was also at the same end. He had to run back desperately but it was too late by then. Shreyas Iyer collected the ball and threw it to the bowler who collected and disturbed the stumps.

Livid Finch walks back to the dressing room

It was a huge mix-up between the duo and Aaron Finch had to pay the price for the same. He was expectedly livid at his partner and was not happy by any means while walking back to the hut. They had gifted a wicket to the home team when the tourists needed a partnership to set a nice platform for the batsmen to come. Steve Smith will now have to make it up for the bluff and score big as he is known to do it.

As far as the team combination is concerned, India went unchanged for this game while Australia included Josh Hazlewood in the XI at Kane Richardson’s expense. Meanwhile, Twitterati was in splits after watching the hilarious run-out and trolled the Aussie batsmen.
