The cricket and football fans across the nation were stoked on Friday (May 24) when football club Tottenham Hotspur and England captain Harry Kane posted a photo alongside India skipper Virat Kohli. Both the superstars know each other for quite some time now but their admiration for each other was limited to interactions on social media. And so when Kane found out that Team India is practising at Lord’s, he could not resist meeting the cricket superstar.

Kane and Kohli then posed for the shutterbugs as they talked with each other. The football star then took to Twitter to post a picture of the meeting. Pointing out the mode of interaction between him and Kohli in the last couple of years, Kane wrote:

“After a few tweets in the last couple of years good to finally meet @imVkohli. A great guy and a brilliant sportsman.”

The interaction between the two had started when Kane had congratulated Kohli after seeing his batting masterclass against Australia in the 2016 World T20. Kane, who led England to the semifinal of the 2018 FIFA World Cup, had lauded Kohli’s ability to deal with pressure situations after his heroics against Australia. Kohli had then replied to Kane’s tweet and lauded him for his performances in the Euro 2016 and even wished him luck for the Premier League campaign. The India batting star had also wished Kane before the 2018 FIFA World Cup.

Abhishek Bachchan trolls Kohli

While fans across the country are excited about Kohli’s meeting with Spur’s striker Harry Kane, one person – Bollywood star Abhishek Bachchan – is perhaps not very impressed with it. A die-hard Chelsea fan, Abhishek perhaps did not like his beloved cricket star posing for photos with the skipper of a team who are Chelsea’s arch-rivals. Abhishek was quick to troll Kohli as he posted a photo, showing Kohli posing with a Chelsea jersey.

In fact, Kohli himself had posted an image with a Chelsea jersey on his Facebook page, back in 2014, showing his love for the London-based football club.

Kohli, meanwhile, is currently gearing up to lead India in the upcoming World Cup, due to start on May 30. The Men in Blue will start their campaign on June 5.
