The returning Chennai Super Kings (CSK) pulled off a sensational and thunderous show in the final of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2018 to beat the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) by 8-wickets to win the title. It was a huge moment for the CSK franchise who were making their return after the span of two years due to suspension.

The former Australian all-rounder Shane Watson amassed a magnificent hundred in the final match to help the CSK team win its third IPL trophy and thus they became the most successful franchise of the tournament along with the Mumbai Indians. There was a colossal celebration at the Wankhede Stadium after Ambati Rayudu scored the winning runs and all the CSK players congratulated each other.

CSK victory celebrations continue in Chennai

The CSK skipper MS Dhoni revealed in the final post-match presentation, that the team will be going to Chennai the following day of the final to celebrate the victory with the home crowd, who have supported the franchise in this successful campaign. Due to some political protests and other issues, the franchise was forced to shift their base to Pune, as only a single game against the Kolkata Knight Riders was played in Chennai, this year. However, even after so many hindrances, the CSK fans and supporters cheered for their team and the franchise also wanted to thank them for the love.

During their travel to Chennai, the CSK team members celebrated the final victory with the airplane crew and some of the players also clicked pictures with the crew members. They also visited a temple in Chennai along with the coveted IPL trophy to receive the blessing from the Almighty, where some of the cricketers also took the moment to engage in some religious rituals.

The Super Kings all-round show to win IPL 2018

CSK entered the eleventh edition of the tournament as the underdogs. There was some huge criticism against the strategies of the franchise owners and the management in regards to selecting most of the cricketers who are aged above thirty years. However, going with the age was the experience which the players brought to the CSK dressing room and all of them had a better understanding and knowledge to deal the pressure situations in a tournament like the IPL.

Each and every individual in the CSK unit proved his worth in some part of the tournament by delivering a match-winning performance. Faf du Plessis who was not at his best in the league stages played a remarkable knock in Qualifier 1 to power his team in the final. CSK opener Shane Watson who had a comprehensive run in the tournament, showed his experience with a smashing hundred (117 off 57 balls) to dominate the Sunrisers bowlers in the huge final match, despite struggling a bit with his timing in the early part of the innings.
