Shortly after being on the winning side for Nottinghamshire in his first home game at Trent Bridge, Cheteshwar Pujara, and his wife Puja Pabari went shopping to utilize the day off. Pujara carried on his good form with the bat by slamming yet another century against Gloucestershire.
Cheteshwar Pujara brought up his ton in only his second match for the county. His century against the Bristol based team empowered Nottinghamshire to post a target of 430 against them. Gloucestershire was not able to put much fight and Pujara’s side ended up on the winning side.
After going unsold in the Indian Premier League, Cheteshwar Pujara signed a contract for a stint with the Trent Bridge based team. When the entire Indian roster was either injured or playing the Indian Premier League after the conclusion of the grand home season of Test cricket, Pujara opted to play in England to get acclimatized to the to the foreign conditions and get essential match practice.
India last played a Test match against Australia in March and their next assignment is only until August against Sri Lanka. Keeping in mind Pujara is only a Test specialist, this county season remains essential for the Saurashtra batsman to remain in good nick.
Pujara recently broke the eight-year-old record set by Gautam Gambhir by scoring most number of runs in a Test season for India. He scored 1316 runs at an average of 65.8 in the season, the most ever by an Indian batsman in Tests.
Pujara scored four centuries and six half-centuries during India’s test campaign this season. It also included Pujara’s marathon innings of 202 off 525 balls against Australia, breaking Rahul Dravid’s record for the longest innings ever played by an Indian.
The Shopping-Spree
However, the Saurashtra player sure knows how to vent off and spend quality time with family. He recently posted an update on his Instagram account with the caption, “When you finish the match early and wife demands to go shopping…..was supposed to be an off day #countycaptures #shoppingspree”
