After being axed from the Indian Test squad and not being able to make much of an impact in this year’s Ranji Trophy, Cheteshwar Pujara decided to revive his cricketing career by making himself available for the entire County Championships in the ongoing season. Not only did it turn out to be a smart move but he also made a strong statement on the 22 yards.

Pujara has made a case for himself with consistent performances, including two double-centuries. Meanwhile, the Saurashtra-born batter recently showed his post-batting ritual on his official social media account and at the same time urged that Sussex will come back stronger from here on.

Taking to his official Instagram handle, the 34-year-old cricketer posted multiple images of him celebrating with his Sussex teammates but, what really stood out here is the final video that was posted featuring his daughter Aditi. In that video, Cheteshwar Pujara was seen waving his bat to the crowd on his way to the dugout before waving to his little daughter who had first waved at him from the stands.

Pujara then headed back to the section where his wife and daughter were watching the match and the duo shared a hi-five. His Instagram post was captioned, “Not the result we wanted but we’ll come back stronger”.

While Chesteshwar Pujara has been performing consistently this season, Sussex have failed collectively and are yet to register a single win. They are currently placed at the seventh spot in the points table. The County club has only managed 38 points courtesy of two draws. While the 34-year-old’s unbeaten 170 did help in setting a 392-run target for Middlesex, they got the job done in style, thanks to 149 from opener Sam Robson.

Cheteshwar Pujara has so far amassed 717 runs averaging 143.40 at a strike rate of 61.22. He would now be eyeing a match-winning knock for his club in their next fixture against Leicestershire, starting May 12 in Leicester.
