Cheteshwar Pujara smashes maiden ton for Nottinghamshire

Cheteshwar Pujara is a big name in the Indian cricket circuit. He has been the batting mainstay of the Indian cricket Test team in the last couple of years. He has emerged as a phenomenal player in the longest format of the game. In the most recent grand home Test season of the Indian cricket, Pujara was instrumental in seeing India register comprehensive wins against multiple oppositions.

He was then out of action as he was not a part of the Indian Premier League roster. This gave him a much-needed buffer space to rest. Now, he is back to the action and this time he is plying his trade for the Nottinghamshire in the County Championships in England. His stint with the county side is expected to do him a world of good as the Indian batsmen have traditionally failed in the English conditions in the recent past.

Cheteshwar Pujara played his first match for the team against Glamorgan last week. He had a very poor outing against them on debut and was dismissed cheaply on 2. Later, he had admitted that it was the jet lag that had his body in a stiff condition in the match. Now, as per the reports in Nottinghampost.com, Cheteshwar Pujara remarked that he put the hard inches going into his second game to overcome the glitches he faced against Glamorgan.

Making an impact for the new team

He wanted to make a good impact in front of his new team mates. In his second game of the season, against Gloucestershire, Pujara was back to doing what he is best at – scoring runs at will. He hit a brilliant ton in the match against the Gloucs and shared a marathon 185 run stand for the 4th wicket with Michael Lumb in the game.

Pujara came into bat at number three in the 12th over after the dismissal of Steven Mullaney. Pujara scored 112 off 206 deliveries with 14 boundaries in his knock.. His efforts, combined with Michael Lumb’s 117, saw Nottinghamshire finish with 357/5 by the end of the day 1 play.
