The Australians are set to lock horns with the Indians in a 5 match ODI series starting from the 17th of September in Chennai. The series is expected to be a cracker of a contest between the two behemoths of world cricket. The Aussies arrived in Chennai a week before the first match to get a hint of the conditions and prepare themselves for the real deal. They successfully won their practice match against the Board President’s XI which will certainly work as a boost for Steve Smith and his men.

While spin has always been a headache for the Australians in Asia, one of the major factors that can wreck havoc in the Australian camp is chinaman Kuldeep Yadav. Eyeing a potential danger the Australians have decided to take up Kuldeep Yadav mystery seriously. Australia consultant and former India cricketer Sridharan Sriram made the Aussies face 25-year-old chinaman KK Jiyas who hails from Kerala. The step was taken to give the visitors a taste of what is coming their way when the series kicks off on the 17th.
Sriram gave a clear-cut message to Jiyas asking him to bowl as many variations as he could. The bowler was elated to bowl to the likes of Glenn Maxwell, Marcus Stoinis, Matthew Wade and James Faulkner and thoroughly enjoyed his spell.
“It was a dream day for me. I enjoyed bowling to them. I bowled about 12 overs and I tried all variations. I was able to beat their bats on the outside a few times but at times they whacked me. It was thrilling,” Jiyas told TOI. “They were trying to read my hand. Maxwell defended as well as attacked,” said Jiyas.
“Sriram asked me to come and bowl. I came here on Thursday night. It was Sriram who saw me bowl and was impressed in 2015. He has been an excellent guide. Bowling to the Aussie batsmen was a great learning experience,” he said.
Jiyas highlighted the fact that the likes of Adam Zampa and James Faulkner were impressed by his bowling. “Adam Zampa (leg-spinner) and Faulkner appreciated me for the way I had bowled. I know Head and Stoinis as we had trainer together with Delhi. It felt great to interact with them again,” concluded Jiyas.
