Chris Gayle career timeline – The smashing years: When the mighty Chris Gayle comes on to bat there are no limits, his capability to hit boundaries all over the ground and accelerate the game is a gift owned by only a few cricketers. Gayle turns 36 today and the party king has every reason to celebrate all these years of his life. At the age of 19 he started off his cricket career with a slow start and it led to a bigger show.
Living life King size the boss has achieved some of the most glorious records. Two triple centuries, a double ton in the World Cup, the most number of T20 centuries and uncountable number of boundaries Gayle’s contribution and name will be carved in golden letters in the history of cricket. He is a blessing in disguise for the West Indies cricket.

October 1998 – Chris Gayle made his debut for Jamaica against West Indies A.
September 1999 – Gayle made his ODI international debut against Pakistan in Toronto.
March 2000 – Makes his Test debut against Zimbabwe.
July 2001 – The Boss hits the first international century in his 10th Test match vs Zimbabwe. He scored 175.

June 2002 – A year later the West Indian smasher makes first Test double century, scoring 202 against New Zealand.
November 2002 – Smashed three hundreds in a series against India. His four consecutive innings read, 103, 72, 140, 101 the best run of his ODI career.
September 2004 – Was a part of the West Indies squad that won the Champions Trophy defeating England at the Oval.
March 2005 – The first controversy took place and he was dropped from the Test against South Africa due to a dispute with West Indies Cricket Board.
May 2005 – Hits the first triple century of his Test career finishing at 317.
November 2006 – Plays the savior for his team strikes the match-winning 133 to beat South Africa in the Champion’s Trophy semifinal.
June 2007 – Titled the limited-overs captain of West Indies and after six months was handed over the Test captaincy as well.
September 2007 – Curtains up for the first World T20 game, and Gayle started off with a bang hitting 117 against the hosts South Africa at Johannesburg.
December 2008 – Gayle bats out of his way, batting for 7 long hours walloping 197 to save his side against New Zealand in Napier.
June 2009 – Playing a vicious innings against Australia he hit 88 off 50 balls in the World T20 at the Oval.
December 2009 – Two consecutive centuries came off Gayle’s bat in two Test matches against the hosts Aussies in Adelaide (165) and Perth (102).
November 2010 – Smashes 333, his second Test triple century against Sri Lanka drawing the match and the series 0-0.
April 2011 – There is no comparison when it comes to the T20 format; in IPL 2011 he scored a total of 608 runs at an average of 70 for Royal Challengers Bangalore as it headed to the finals.
June- December 2011 – The dispute with West Indies cricket board did not seem to end on an agreement leading to his exclusion from the team for Bangladesh and India tours. However the entertainment on the T20 front continues around the world in various competitions.
June 2012 – He finally settles issues with WICB agreeing to return to the West Indies side for the ODI series in England.
November 2012 – After 137 years in the history of Test cricket Chris Gayle becomes the first player to hit a six off the first ball in a Test match.
April 2013 – Makes a show off his innings in the IPL against the Pune Warriors scooping 175 not out with 17 sixes as RCB totaled 263 the highest individual and T20 score in the history of 20 overs cricket.
February 2015 –The world boss became the first player to hit a double century in World Cup. Gayle knocked 215 not out in the World Cup group game against Zimbabwe.
June 2015 – Enters the Somerset with knocks of 92, 151 and 85. His 151 against the Kent was the 15th T20 century of his career. Making him the first in the list with most T20 centuries the only player close to him is Brendon McCullum with 6 centuries.
August 2015 – Gayle underwent a surgery for the long suffered back pain and is to set foot on the cricket pitch this December after recovering.
