Swashbuckling West Indies batsman, and a T20 specialist, left-hander Chris Gayle is one of the most entertaining cricketers in the world, both on and off the field. He can entertain you with his funky dance moves as much as with his out of the park sixes. Gayle has a lot of fan following in India since he has been playing for the Indian Premier League for years now. Gayle, who made a comeback to T20I after one year of injuries and loss of form, was in Bangalore for a promotional event.

During the event, Gayle was asked to choose his opening partner in his dream XI for the shortest format, and he named former India opener Virender Sehwag who also was a big hitter of the ball, which is why the Jamaican and Indian could form a destructive opening partnership in the World XI. “Virender Sehwag, I think,” Gayle told Sportskeeda. He also said that he would want himself to be the captain of a World XI team. Gayle has previously captained his national side as well.

In the recently played lone T20I between India and West Indies, which the hosts won by 9 wickets, Chris Gayle made a comeback after one year but could muster only 18 runs off 20 balls. Before that, he had last played an international T20 match in March 2016 at Kolkata’s Eden Gardens, in the T20 World Cup final between West Indies and England which the Islanders won.

Slump in form

His presence in the Champions Trophy 2017 was also missed as West Indies, being 9th in the ODI rankings back then, didn’t qualify for the coveted ODI tournament. Prior to that, the tall batsman had a poor run with the Royal Challengers Bangalore in the tenth edition of the Indian Premier League where he under-performed and was also benched for a few games.
