Chris Gayle sets his eyes on owning an ISL-type team

West Indian opener Chris Gayle is planning to buy an ISL type team in the recent future. The player also confirmed that he is holding talks with certain stakeholders and looking forward to some commercial ventures. The big guy also expressed his desire to do so while he is an active sportsman.

“I would definitely love to own an Indian Super League kind of team, but what best one can do is to get involved in it while you are active playing cricket,” Gayle told PTI at an event here.

Gayle made us aware that cricket is also highly attached to the business and all the stakeholders are hungry for money.

“Business will always come in, once you produce scintillating on-field knocks. People and companies will chase you, but cricket itself is business. Everybody wants to generate as much revenues as possible,”

According to the  ‘Universe Boss’, legends of the game like Sachin Tendulkar and Sourav Ganguly have opted to own teams after hanging up their boots because they want to explore the world of business.

“If you feel you have enough time to venture into it, so do it even if you are an active and busy player, but if you feel you can’t, you can always foray into this venture post- retirement,” he added.

Sachin Tendulkar is the owner of ISL team Kerala Blasters where as Ganguly is the owner of Atletico de Kolkata which hails from his hometown.

Speaking about his intentions to engage himself with a few more commercial projects, Gayle said “Definitely. There are a few projects under the table which are actually under discussion as we speak.”

The left handed power hitter invested an undisclosed amount of money to Indian start-up IONA Entertainment which plans to bring one-stop entertainment. Gayle also said that he has made India his primary target for commercial ventures and he loves to be in the country.
