Chirs Gayle sidelined till December due to back surgery:

Explosive West Indies batsman Chris Gayle will miss all the cricketing action till December this year. The Jamaican, who can treat the world’s best bowlers with utter disdain on his day, will be out of action due to a back surgery. Gayle said he would be out of action for “two to three months” and would return to cricket “maybe in December”. Gayle revealed the surgery after his side the Jamaica Tallawah’s was eliminated from the Caribbean Premier League Twenty20 competition after a defeat to the hands of Trinidad & Tobago Red Steel in the first semi-final.

Chris Gayle said, “I have a charity game on the second (of August), but after that I will be out of cricket for maybe two to three months,”

“I am going to do a surgery on my back. So I need some time for recovery. You have got to wish me luck with that surgery and then I will be back strong” he said.

Gayle has long suffered with back issues. He missed a group stage game during the World Cup 2015 and had a pain-killing injection to play the quarter-final against New Zealand. Gayle last played a Test in September 2014 but the Jamaican has remained in prolific form in limited overs cricket. He hit 215 against Zimbabwe at the World Cup and has been in fine touch for various T20 sides around the globe this year. Gayle hit 491 runs at 40.91 in 14 Indian Premier League matches for Royal Challengers Bangalore this year, with a top score of 117.

He hit an unbeaten 151 for Somerset in England’s domestic T20 competition and finished with 328 runs from three matches, hitting 29 sixes. And he is also the leading run-scorer in the CPL with 430 at an average of 61.42 with the tournament’s top two scores of 105 and an unbeaten 90, along with 33 sixes in 10 matches. Gayle is also contracted to the Melbourne Renegades in the Big Bash League, which begins on December 18. He is expected to open the batting for the Renegades alongside Australia’s T20 captain Aaron Finch.
