Chris Gayle’s cricket career in numbers: When we hear the word “Monstrous hitter”, only one guy comes to our mind – the West Indies opener Chris Gayle; such are his records and achievements in the short formats of the game. Some call him “Gayle storm” & some call him “The Monster”. Gayle is that one guy who never loses his cool and tries his extent to entertain his fans with the bat and of course with his celebrations too.

1 – Chris Gayle is the first cricketer to score centuries in all 3 formats of the game.
2 – Number of triple centuries scored by Chris Gayle in Tests, he is the 4th batsman to score 2 triple centuries in Test cricket after Sir Don Bradman, Brian Lara & Virender Sehwag
3 – Number of 150 or plus scores by Chris Gayle in ODIs, he is one of only five players in ODI history to have 3 or more scores of 150 and more in ODIs.
5 – The West Indies opener scored the 5th fastest century in Test cricket history against Australia on 17th December, 2009, as he reached the century in just 70 balls.
17 – Number of sixes, Gayle scored in a T20 Innings against Pune Warriors of IPL, most sixes by a batsman in a T20 innings.
19 – Chris Gayle made his First Class Debut for Jamaica at the age of 19.

117 – Is Chris Gayle’s highest T20I score, he scored that in just 57 balls; the knock came against South Africa at Johannesburg in the Inaugural T20 World Cup. He is the first player to score a century in T20Is.
137 – In 137 years of Test cricket history, Chris Gayle is the first and only player to hit six off the first ball of a Test match. He achieved this record against Bangladesh in 2012 off debutant bowler Sohag Gazi.
140 – Gayle, known as the humongous hitter of the cricket ball has smashed the 140 metres long six off Nathan Hauritz in Perth which went on top of the Lillee-Marsh stand’s roof.
175 – He holds the record for the highest individual T20 score. His innings of 175 came for IPL’s Royal Challengers Bangalore against Pune Warriors. This humongous Innings consists of 13 fours and 17 sixes, he scored century in just 30 balls which is the fastest by any player across all formats of the game.
195 – However, Chris Gayle earlier scored 196 off 68 balls in a T20 Trail match in Jamaica, West Indies. He got out in the 15th over of the match as per the tweets of his team mate Wavell Hinds.
215 – Chris Gayle is the first batsman to score a double hundred in ODI World Cup, which is also the fastest double century as he achieved this record in just 138 balls. He finished on 215 runs, which was the highest score in World Cups until it was broken by New Zealand opener Martin Guptill against West Indies in the same World Cup.
222 – The Jamaican holds the record for the highest sixes in IPL with 222 sixes from 77 matches.
317 – He became the first player to score a triple century against South Africa in Test cricket. Later on, Mahela Jayawardene scored 374, which is the highest score by a batsman against Proteas.
333 – Gayle’s highest Test score came against Sri Lanka in Galle. He batted almost 10 hours and scored 333 runs, where he proved that he too can bat for long hours in Test cricket.
372 – West Indies opener went on to put 372 runs partnership with Marlon Samuels in the World Cup 2015 against Zimbabwe, the best ever partnership for any wicket in ODIs.
474 – The Jamaican legend was the leading run scorer of Champions Trophy 2006 with 474 runs, he also took 8 wickets in 8 matches, but his team failed to defend the trophy as they were defeated by the Aussies in the finals.
500 – Gayle is also the first player to smash 500 sixes in T20 history.
608 – In the 2011 IPL Auctions, Chris Gayle got no bids from the franchises in the first round. Later, RCB signed him as the replacement of Dirk Nannes & he proved them right as he was the highest run scorer of IPL 2011 with 608 runs in just 12 matches.
733 – Gayle won the Orange cap in IPL 2012 as he was the leading run-scorer with 733 runs in 14 matches.
2008 – Chris Gayle was auctioned by IPL franchise Kolkata Knight Riders, but he missed the beginning of the tournament as Sri Lanka was on the tour of Caribbean. He also missed the later part of the tournament as he suffered a groin injury.
7000 – Jamaican opening batsman is also the first West Indian to score more than 7000 runs and pick in excess of 150 wickets in ODIs.
