Chris Gayle’s exclusion leaves fans disappointed: Thousands of Royal Challengers Bangalore fans were in shock when they came to know that West Indies’ Chris Gayle would not play their must-win match against Chennai Super Kings at the Chinnaswamy Stadium.
The fans at the stadium, who mostly came to watch some fireworks from him were disappointed when the names of the players were displayed on the giant screen after the toss.
I can’t believe Gayle is not playing this time. It’s true he has not been in good form and didn’t score much in the last two games against Mumbai Indians and Sunrisers Hyderabad. But he was a match-winner in the first game this season against Kolkata Knight Riders on April 11 in Kolkata where he scored a scintillating 96 off 56 balls with seven sixes and seven fours, a fan said IANS.
Though skipper Virat Kohli at the toss clearly said that pacers Abu Nechim and Varun Aaron were dropped, he did not give any reason for Gayle’s injury. There are some speculations that the Jamaican might be injured ahead of the tie.
After scoring a match-winning 95 against Kolkata Knight Riders in their first match, Gayle got out for 11 runs against Sunrisers Hyderabad and a 24 ball 10 against Mumbai Indians. The reason for his exclusion leaves the fans clueless.
Bangalore included South African opener Rilee Rossouw in Gayle’s place and had AB de Villiers, David Wiese and Mitchell Starc as their 4 overseas players in the match against Chennai. Mitchell Starc played his first match of the IPL.
