Barbados Tridents clinched their 2nd CPL title by defeating the Guyana Amazon Warriors in the final on Saturday night by 27 runs. Johnathan Carter’s unbeaten 27-ball 50 powered the Tridents to 171/6. Brandon King continued his decent form scoring a 33-ball 43 but lacked support. The required run-rate touched 10 by half-way stage and only got worse towards the end. Shoaib Malik’s Warriors eventually finished with 144/9 which brought an end to their 11-match winning streak.

All the statistical highlights from the 2nd CPL title victory of Barbados Tridents:

2 – Only two times the Barbados Tridents have defeated the Guyana Amazon Warriors since the start of 2016 in a period where the two sides faced off in 10 matches. Had Guyana won this match, they would have become the first team to win four matches in a CPL edition against an opponent.

3 – All the seven CPL titles have been shared among three teams – Trinbago Knight Riders (3), Jamaica Tallawahs (2) and Barbados Tridents (2). The first CPL title of Tridents came in the 2014 edition as they defeated Guyana Amazon Warriors there as well.

5 – Guyana Amazon Warriors have qualified for the CPL final on five occasions; two more than any other team. They ended up losing all those finals while no other team ended as runners-up more than once.

11 – The Amazon Warriors have won 11 matches in a row before the defeat in the final. No team before Guyana won even 8 successive matches in the CPL. Overall, their 11-match streak is the 3rd longest in the T20 format for a T20 franchise team.

The IPL team Kolkata Knight Riders won 14 successive games in 2014 including five in the CLT20 played that year. The Big Bash team Sydney Sixers won 12 consecutive T20s in 2012, a streak that includes six CLT20 matches.

22 – Number of wickets for Hayden Walsh of Barbados Tridents from nine matches in this tournament; the joint 2nd most by any player in a single CPL edition. Dwayne Bravo scalped 28 wickets in the 2015 edition while Fawad Ahmed also took 22 wickets in 2018 CPL.

415 – Runs Jason Charles amassed in this tournament; the most by a Barbados Tridents’ player in a CPL edition. He thus surpassed Shoaib Malik’s 406 runs in the 2014 edition. Malik is the current captain of the Amazon Warriors.

496 – Brandon King’s 496 runs are the 2nd most by any player in a single edition of the Caribbean Premier League. King scored those 496 runs across 12 innings at an average of 55.11 with an unbeaten hundred and three fifties. Colin Munro is the only player to score more runs in a single CPL edition than Brandon King. Munro scored 567 runs in the previous edition for TKR across 13 innings.

King struck 32 sixes in this CPL which are the 3rd most by any player in a CPL season. Chris Gayle hit 37 and 33 sixes respectively in the 2015 and 2016 editions.
