The 27th match of the league stage between Trinbago Knight Riders and the St Lucia Zouks didn’t hold much significance as the four semi-finalists of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL 2020) have already been decided. Despite this fact, the Zouks and the Knight Riders presented a stunning show last night as TKR registered victory on STZ by 23 runs at Brian Lara Stadium, Trinidad.
Zouks captain Daren Sammy won the toss and elected to field first. The table-toppers had a rocky start as Lucia Zouks got their first breakthrough in the form of opening batsman Lendl Simmons at the end of the third over. The other opening batsman Tion Webster, who was playing at 20, also went back to the pavilion at the delivery of Zahir Khan at the end of the seventh over.
However, the team managed to pose a target of 175 runs on the board at the loss of five wickets owing to a splendid knock of 50 runs off 42 runs by Darren Bravo. The captain Kieron Pollard also made a notable contribution by playing a quickfire knock of 42 off 21 deliveries. For Zouks, Scott Kuggeleijn got two wickets while Kesrick Williams, Zaheer, and Sammy got one each to their names.
Andre Fletcher hits Kieron Pollard for six
While chasing the target of 176, Zouks lost their first wicket, Kimani Melius, early in the match to DJ Bravo. Mark Deyal also returned back to the pavilion after scoring 40 off 33. The wicketkeeper-batsman Andre Fletcher tried to play a quickfire knock in the middle of the match as he hit the opposition skipper with six in the starting of the 14th over.
While Zouks were at 95 at the loss of 2, Fletcher tried to accelerate his innings as he smashed a brilliant six on the first ball of 13th over by Pollard and the ball landed straight in the stands. Interestingly, Fletcher didn’t look at the distance covered by the ball after hitting it. Appreciating this beautiful shot by their player, the official Twitter handle of Zouks shared the clip of this incident. They tweeted “No Look SIX! Dispatched by Fetcher in style ! #CPL20 #ZouksSaChaud #TKRvSLZ”

Though, Pollard gave it back to Andre as he took his wicket in the middle of the same over. After that the Zouks soon collapsed as they could collect only 152 runs in a 20-over match, losing it by 23 runs.
